The project is aimed at reducing energy consumption in municipal buildings and thus will affect the development of environmental protection activities which in turn will have a positive impact on improving the quality of life of people on both sides of the border in the cross-border region. The overall goal of the project is to protect the environment by reducing energy consumption in the municipal buildings in Rila and Probistip. The envisaged main results are: increase of the capacity of the municipal teams in the field of local planning for sustainable energy; rehabilitated municipal buildings in Rila and Probistip; Improved condition of public buildings and improved energy efficiency; reducing costs in municipal budgets through energy savings; extended use value of public infrastructure; Greater comfort of public buildings; reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from public buildings; provided access for people with special needs to the facilities; Implemented activities for environmental protection in the cross-border area; Conducted seminar on energy efficiency in Rila; Strengthening the relations between the Municipality of Rila and the Municipality of Probistip and the cooperation at the expert level; raising awareness of new methods for reducing energy consumption; analysis of new technologies and approaches that can improve efficiency; and examining new regulatory structures to support new approaches to energy efficiency.
