The estimated population within the intervention area of ​​30,000 people will benefit from project activities to address environmental improvements. In addition to project participants, at least 200 farmers working around Lake Prespa Basin and the Korce region will be targeted for direct project interventions in the sustainable agriculture sector. Farmers who will be involved in the project will be selected according to the level of interest, participation in local farmers' associations. Additionally, farmers who will be included in the sub-grant component will be selected in an open call for applications based on orchard expansion, proximity to lakes or rivers, a farm run by young people or women, and agrochemical laboratories will be supported and their technical staff will be trained. In addition, 15 schools in both countries will be involved in the action by establishing eco-gardens and eco-patrols where at least 2,000 children will be involved in educational activities and awareness-raising campaigns. The 200 farmers in the cross-border region have identified the need to increase their knowledge of the effective use of fertilizers and pesticides. They are constrained by the idea that reducing the use of fertilizers and pesticides will reduce their income. Both agrochemical laboratories need additional working materials in order to provide adequate services to farmers. Children in schools need increased knowledge for sustainable management of natural resources because they live in that region, and some of them will become farmers in the future, so they will practice the knowledge used.
