COORDINATION SYSTEM IN PLANNING, IMPLEMENTATION, MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF POLICY FOR BALANCED REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

BENIKO RENT A CAR

PROJECT DETAILS

The need to reduce the carbon footprint (the emission of greenhouse gases) and thereby minimize climate factors is particularly pronounced in the industry and mining as large energy consumers. Today's mining industry uses technology that involves large machines that are basically powered by internal combustion engines (mostly diesel). The emission of harmful gases, especially in terms of the emission of CO2, SOx, NOx, CH4 gases as well as fine particulates (PM < 2.5), directly contributes to increasing the carbon footprint and the occurrence of greenhouse gases. This directly affects the change of climate factors both locally and globally. It is the replacement of the diesel engine with an electric engine that would directly contribute to the reduction of climate change. In this project, a study is planned in which an analysis will be made of the possibility of introducing trolley mining trucks (dumpers) in the newly planned project - gold mine "Zlatica-Plavica" of the company Genesis Resources International - Skopje. Based on the project documentation for the construction of the mine, the project envisages the procurement of 15 dumpers with diesel or diesel-electric drive. They are powered by diesel fuel. According to the project, they are one of the biggest consumers of energy and certainly the biggest contributors to the emission of greenhouse gases. The trolley dumpers would be powered by electricity through a trolley connection to the electrical network along the capital roads (most of the total length of haulage routes for transporting the mineral raw material and mine waste rock). Due to the impossibility of maneuvering and electrical connection in the area of the open pit mine and the waste rock dump, the dumpers in those places will move on diesel power. According to the initial estimates, the ratio of the haulage routes where it is possible to introduce trolley-dumpers in relation to the diesel drive is 65%:35%. Considering that it is a fleet of 15 dump trucks with a payload of 90 tons, the reduction of greenhouse gases would be more than 60%.
