The villages in the lowland part of the Municipality of Struga have been supplied with drinking water from the water source in the village of Shum for more than 50 years. These are the villages Radolishta, Shum, Zagracani, Teferic, Dolna Belica, Vranishta, Lozani, Drajslajca, Moroishta, Livada and Misleshevo, Velesta, Gorno and Dolno Tateshi, Bidzhevo, Dobovjani, Novo Selo, Volino in the Municipality of Debarca - or 30,000 inhabitants in the rural part of the Municipality of Struga. The pumping station of the water supply source is ruined and the population continuously faces shortage or complete shutdown of the water supply system, defective drinking water and frequent interruptions in the water supply. The problem is even bigger that these settlements are the locations where all the industrial facilities of the municipality are located, where mainly the people from this region work. This puts an end to the work of businesses and industrial facilities in the region. In order to reconstruct the existing pumping station and the water tank in the village of Shum, it is necessary to prepare technical documentation on the basis of which the necessary construction works will be performed and procure appropriate equipment according to modern standards and in line with the new water treatment systems for drinking. In order to obtain all necessary permits, in order to approach the concrete realization of the mentioned infrastructure, the preparation of this documentation is of high priority for the balanced development of the region in terms of quality of life and improving the conditions for economic growth and development.
