PROJECT DETAILS

The project aims to restore the normal social and economic life of more than 7977 people. It offers a complex solution to the problems with high waters in the two most affected municipalities - Karbinci and Strumyani. The project includes as main activities correction of the riverbeds of Kozjaчкаka River in Karbinci and the river шкаaшкаka in Strumyani because they with their disturbed riverbeds are a threat to the territory and infrastructure and the health of the citizens of both municipalities. The project envisages construction works in both municipalities and under the supervision of independent construction control. The project is based on preliminary studies and analyzes of the condition of the two watercourses. The realization of the project will ensure the safety and health of the population in the entire region. The main result of the project will be the increased safety of the local population from Strumyani and Karbinci from natural disasters and flood prevention in the main settlements of both municipalities. The results of the project refer to disaster prevention, floods in the urbanized territory of Strumyani and Karbinci through correction of water flows, construction of protective walls and cleaning of 256 meters from the riverbed of the river Kozjacka and for the river Shashka will solve part of the overflow between the threshold 4 and threshold 28 with an axial length of 340 meters and a total length of 682 meters of retaining wall on both banks. Another basic result of the project is the creation of a capacity of 30 representatives of the municipal administration and experts from other responsible institutions for action in the field of natural disaster resolution in Karbinci and Strumyani (such as RIOSV, Directorates, municipality of Strumyani, municipality of Karbinci, NGOs, Regional administration, etc.), including young people and Roma as well as people with disabilities. Representatives of the target group will get acquainted with the application of new technologies in the field of disaster management, the possibility of partnership in disaster prevention, the role of the population in the disaster prevention program, etc. The monitoring of the condition of the riverbeds and their cleaning will be done regularly in a period not only of 5 years after the completion of the project activities, the results will be distributed and submitted to all relevant authorities, which are responsible for sustainable management and disaster prevention.
