PROJECT DETAILS

The project aims to preserve, present and popularize the legacy of the urban lifestyle of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the cross-border region. Local people and potential tourists are unaware of our rich cultural heritage. The project will provide development of this tourist thread with three main types of activities: (1) restoration and conservation of two cultural monuments, aimed at presenting the urban lifestyle during the last century in the region of PS, especially in Dupnica and Kumanovo - the former Hotel "Thessaloniki" in Kumanovo and the building of the Old Zone in Dupnica; (2) development of a modern communication channel through the creation of a virtual museum of the heritage of the old urban living in the region of PS. It will be interactive and will enable the local population to send and present their information about the urban life in Kumanovo and Dupnica during the last century; (3) capacity building of local stakeholders involved in cultural tourism through studies and training; (4) raising awareness of our cultural heritage through attractive promotional campaigns: a festival of urban living heritage. The following results will be achieved as a result of the project: Preservation of the building of the former hotel "Thessaloniki" as a cultural monument; Fully furnished and equipped building of the former hotel "Thessaloniki"; Preservation of the building of the old district salon in Dupnica and construction of additional premises in order to ensure its function as a cultural institute with stocks, laboratory and exhibition halls for the old city lifestyle in the region of PS; Conducted a study on modern marketing practices for popularization of the heritage of the Old Urban Living; Marketing strategy for promotion of heritage tourism of the old urban style in the region of PS. Organized festival of old urban heritage in Kumanovo; Creation of a virtual museum of the heritage of the old urban lifestyle in the region of PS with emphasis on Kumanovo and Dupnica;
