PROJECT DETAILS

The project focuses on the problem of diversification of the local tourism product, where cultural heritage is considered the most valuable. Concentrated efforts will be made to rediscover sites, with religious specifics, which are always interesting for tourists (foreign and local), but also very well complement the other existing tourist attractions in the region. Because the target group of the project is tourists, they face difficulties in gaining access to such places. Thus, the project is focused on socialization at several locations in Kyustendil and Strumica, establishing connections and access paths between some of them and other tourist destinations (eco-path that connects the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with the Skakavica waterfall). The new approach will be to connect existing ones with new destinations, to make them all more attractive, and thus - to support the local economy through more visitors to the region. Using methods of reconstruction and socialization, along with informational activities, the overall goal of the project is to offer tourists a new attractive experience. Increasing the tourist attractiveness of the cross-border area will have a long-term effect on the local population. Because the regions of Kyustendil and Strumica have similar specifics, the needs are almost identical - how to use historical and natural resources to stimulate the local economy and especially tourism. Thus, the partners chose to achieve the set goals through a joint project using methods that will not adversely affect nature. The following results will be achieved as a result of the project: Built roads and pedestrian paths - 6171 m .; 2. Built 508 m2 tourist zones; 3. Prepared 3,000 thematic brochures based on conducted research; 4. Produced advertising materials 300 key chains, T-shirts, umbrellas, hats; 5. An open fair will be held in Kyustendil with more than 120 participants; 6. A final forum for 40 participants and an opening of an event in Strumica for 140 participants will be conducted.
